How urology residents perceive urogynecology
Subspecialty shortages are usually described in terms of positions and pay. Before either, there is what trainees think the field is — and residents choose from the picture they have, not the one that is accurate.

This hub is still being built. The analysis is underway; the derivation, tables and figures will be posted here as they are finished, the way the completed projects on this site are. What is below is the design and the current state, written up as it stands.
The question
What do U.S. urology residents know about urogynecology, how do they perceive the field, and what shapes that perception during training?
How it is being done
- A survey instrument distributed to every urology residency program in the country.
- Knowledge and perception measured separately, since a field can be well regarded and poorly understood, or the reverse.
- Exposure during training recorded alongside, so perception can be read against how much of the field a resident has actually seen.
